UXBRIDGE, LONDON, October 2026 – Allenby Accountants, an ICAEW member firm of Chartered Accountants based in Uxbridge, is offering Making Tax Digital (MTD) readiness reviews for landlords and sole traders across West London, as more people come into the new rules from April 2027.

MTD for Income Tax became mandatory on 6 April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income above £50,000. The second quarterly update deadline for this group is 7 November 2026. From April 2027 the threshold falls to £30,000, based on income reported in 2025/26 tax returns due by 31 January 2027, and to £20,000 from April 2028.

The review looks at each client's position in one meeting. It confirms whether and when MTD applies, how joint property income is counted, whether any exemption may be available, which compatible software suits the business, and how digital records and quarterly updates will be kept. Landlords with several properties and sole traders with more than one business are covered, and the firm can be authorised as agent to send quarterly updates on clients' behalf.

Clients who are already in MTD can also use the review to check their first two quarters. HMRC is not issuing penalty points for late quarterly updates during 2026/27, but digital records must still be kept and all quarterly updates must be sent before the year-end return can be filed.
