If you are one of the many thousands who play the PC game Minecraft, you'll be excited to learn about a new development for gamers. The newest update of Minecraft, compatible with the new Microsoft operating system Windows 10, will be designed to work with the virtual reality Oculus Rift headset.

The Oculus Rift headset combines better with Microsoft 10 than with any other platform currently available. The release of Minecraft with Oculus Rift support is an indication of a continuing relationship between Microsoft and the creators of the headset. This likely indicates that there will be more Microsoft games available for the Oculus Rift headset in the future. This is a winning scenario for everyone from gamers to game developers to Microsoft executives.

Unfortunately for everyone who wants to get both the headset and the new game, the update won't be available until the spring of 2016. More information about how the game will work on the Oculus Rift should be available as the release date gets closer.

In addition to being released for Oculus Rift, Microsoft has also shown Minecraft on its own augmented reality product, the HoloLens headset. Minecraft was by far the best software shown for the device. It's interesting that Microsoft is willing to give up a sales edge for its headset like having exclusivity on Minecraft. It seems that Microsoft is more interested in getting Minecraft out there on to every system and every type of hardware, rather than on maintaining an exclusive hold on the title. So if you currently play a lot of Minecraft, you might want to go ahead and plan on investing in an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. Combined with Windows 10, the Oculus Rift will provide an immersive Minecraft experience that is unlike anything you've seen before. Unless you own a HoloLens, that is.
