Advantis, the transportation and logistics arm of Hayleys PLC, is embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles across its operations, sustainability initiatives and stakeholder engagement to support resilient growth and long-term value creation.
With over six decades of experience, Advantis is a diversified transportation and logistics services provider operating across Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Maldives, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Its services span integrated logistics, freight management, marine and energy, project logistics, travel and aviation, and other specialised areas.
The Group’s sustainability approach is guided by HELIOS, its ESG strategy aligned with the Hayleys Lifecode. HELIOS is built around seven pillars: Energy, Emissions, Biodiversity, Employee Engagement, Community Engagement, Safety and Governance.
Advancing ESG Through Responsible Business Practices
Advantis focuses on improving resource efficiency, managing energy use and emissions, reducing waste and supporting climate action and ecosystem conservation. Technology, data and continuous improvement also support operational decision-making and service reliability.
Its social initiatives include employee well-being, workplace safety, diversity and inclusion, skills development and community engagement. Through Advantis DNA, the Group promotes an inclusive workplace, while Advantis All Around provides university students with mentorship, industry exposure and practical learning opportunities.
Governance remains central to the Group’s approach to ethics, compliance and risk management, supported by oversight, transparent decision-making and responsible business conduct.
Advantis Group Managing Director Ruwan Waidyaratne said, “ESG is central to how Advantis operates and prepares for the future. Through HELIOS, we are bringing our businesses, employees and stakeholders together to improve operational practices, protect natural ecosystems and create enduring value for the communities and markets we serve.”
Restoring Ecosystems Through Advantis Blue C and Advantis Green C
Advantis Blue C supports the conservation and restoration of blue carbon ecosystems, including the Accelerated Natural Regeneration of Mangroves project at the Anawilundawa Ramsar Wetland. The programme also includes an 8.9-hectare mangrove restoration site at Pubudugama, where its second phase commenced in 2024.
Advantis Green C extends the Group’s environmental efforts to terrestrial ecosystems. The programme covers 15.26 hectares at Frocester Estate in Govinna and focuses on restoring native vegetation, improving soil health and water retention, enhancing biodiversity and establishing sustainable habitats.
The initiative is implemented through collaboration between Advantis, Horana Plantations and WNPS PLANT (Wildlife & Nature Protection Society – Preserving Land & Nature), with employees also participating in restoration activities.
Building ESG Awareness Across the Advantis Community
The ESG Pavilion 2026 is a month-long initiative that brings together employees, business leaders and external stakeholders through education, dialogue and practical activities.
The programme covers environmental conservation, safety, governance and social responsibility. Activities include blue carbon awareness sessions, visits to mangrove restoration sites, the 100 for 100 Road Safety Project, governance and risk management sessions, ESG disclosure awareness and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
By engaging schools, suppliers, industry partners and local communities, Advantis aims to encourage knowledge sharing and collective action in support of its sustainability priorities.
Creating Value Beyond Logistics
Through HELIOS and its environmental and community initiatives, Advantis continues to integrate sustainability into its operations and stakeholder relationships. The Group aims to strengthen business resilience, support communities, protect ecosystems, and create long-term value as the transportation and logistics sector evolves.
