Over two decades, the company has refined a construction process built around speed and predictability. Once a site is graded and ready, most custom shell homes are completed in seven to ten business days, with foundation options including pier-and-beam, pilings, and concrete slab available depending on soil and site conditions. Post-shell finishing services, including electrical, plumbing, insulation, and sheetrock, are available for customers who want to carry a project through to a fully finished home.
“Twenty years ago, we were building for a handful of families around Polk County. Today we're hearing from landowners in every corner of Texas, and the process hasn't changed, we still show up, we still build it right, and we still treat every lot like it's the only one we're working on,” said Marshal Dillon, owner of Dillon Shell Homes.
The company's current lineup includes four established floor plans: the Crow's Nest, a 720-square-foot one-bedroom layout with a loft; The Landing, a 960-square-foot two-bedroom design also with loft space; Creekside, a 1,080-square-foot two-bedroom plan built around a covered porch; and The Retreat, a 1,584-square-foot three-bedroom home. Each plan can be adapted to a range of lot conditions, from clay-heavy soil in North and Central Texas to sandier ground closer to the coast.
“A lot has changed about how families find us, but the fundamentals haven't,” Dillon added. “Someone owns a piece of land, they want a home on it without the wait or the overhead of a traditional build, and we can usually make that happen faster than they expect.”
The anniversary comes as Dillon Shell Homes continues to expand its reach across Texas, formalizing a build-on-your-lot model that already serves landowners well beyond its Goodrich home base. Walk-in models remain available for viewing at the company's Goodrich office around the clock, and in-person consultations can be scheduled with 48 hours' notice for customers traveling from other parts of the state.
The company credits much of its longevity to word-of-mouth referrals from past customers, many of whom first learned about Dillon Shell Homes through a neighbor or family member who had already built with them. That reputation, built one lot at a time over two decades, has helped the business grow without straying from the same core promise it started with: a fast, straightforward build on land the customer already owns.
