Gekko, the managed IT support and IT consultancy provider, is urging businesses still using traditional phone lines to act now, as the UK's PSTN and ISDN networks are due to be switched off on 31 January 2027.

After the deadline, any phone system or connected device that relies on legacy copper lines will stop working. That includes not only office phones, but often alarms, door-entry systems, lift phones and card machines that quietly depend on a landline.
