Hyundai has launched the Bayon in India at a starting price of Rs 9,99,900 ex-showroom. The SUV offers a 1.5-litre petrol engine, manual and iVT automatic options, a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 Pro ADAS. It also introduces Hyundai Motor India’s first built-in generative AI voice assistant. Bookings are open for Rs 11,000 through Hyundai dealerships and its website.
The 1.5-litre, four-cylinder MPi petrol engine produces 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm at 4,500 rpm. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual and an Intelligent Variable Transmission, or iVT. The iVT gets Dash Boost Mode for quicker response during overtaking and Sporty Drive Tech for a more engaging acceleration feel. Drive modes, paddle shifters and Idle Stop & Go are also listed. Hyundai has not provided certified mileage figures in the launch release.
The Bayon measures 4,245 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,605 mm tall with roof rails. It has a 2,600 mm wheelbase, 205 mm unladen ground clearance and a turning radius of 5.16 metres. Fuel tank capacity is 43 litres, while boot space is quoted at 505 litres using the V215 measurement method with a tyre mobility kit.
The exterior features a sculpted bonnet, pronounced fenders, H-Edge LED daytime running lights and dual LED projector headlamps. Wheel-arch cladding, bridge-type roof rails and available 17-inch diamond-cut alloys add to the upright SUV shape. At the rear, it gets H-Edge LED tail lamps and a spoiler with a vertical high-mounted stop lamp.
There are ten exterior colour combinations. Monotone choices include Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey. Atlas White and Fiery Red are available with a black roof, while Titanium Black Matte and Classy Blue Matte complete the range.
Inside, the Bayon has a Black and Olive Grey dual-tone theme with leatherette seats, a soft-touch dashboard insert and a two-tone D-cut steering wheel. Ambient lighting runs through the dashboard and door pockets. Comfort features include ventilated front seats, an eight-way powered driver’s seat, two-step reclining rear seats, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a panoramic sunroof. Wireless charging, USB-C ports, front and rear armrests, push-button start and 60:40 split rear seats are also offered.
Two 12.3-inch curved displays handle infotainment and driver information. The NVIDIA-accelerated ccNC system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside a Bose sound system. Hyundai’s new AI assistant uses Perplexity intelligence and SoundHound AI voice technology to answer questions about travel, weather, restaurants, news and sports. It works in English, and Hyundai advises users to verify its responses independently.
Connected features include more than 70 Bluelink functions, over 500 embedded voice commands and interfaces supporting ten regional and two international languages. Updates can cover up to 19 vehicle controllers, subject to availability and other conditions. Hyundai includes a three-year Bluelink subscription.
The safety package includes more than 35 standard features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, hill-start assist, a rollover sensor, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX mounts and rear parking sensors. The body uses 69% advanced multi-grade high-strength steel. Hyundai says it is engineered for five-star Indian safety standards based on internal assessment, not an announced independent crash-test result.
Higher-spec equipment includes Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 assistance functions, Surround View Monitor, Blind-spot View Monitor, three radars and 12 parking sensors. Functions include collision-avoidance assistance, lane assistance, blind-spot support, rear cross-traffic assistance and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Highway Driving Assist and navigation-based cruise functions work on designated mapped expressways. Equipment varies by trim, including rear drum or disc brakes.
Manual variants are HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. The iVT is offered in HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10 trims. The India-made Bayon will also be exported to more than 50 markets.
